Talk to Frank

FRANK Field is a difficult man to track down (ask my colleague Matt Hurst).

But today I had a brief but unexpected conversation with the Birkenhead MP while trying to get hold of Labour's Councillor George Davies.

When I called his mobile number this afternoon, this is the conversation that followed:

Me: Hi, is that George? It's Lorna from Wirral News.

Frank Field: No, it's Frank. George is driving, can I take a message?

Me: Err..yes ok. Could you tell him that I was calling to tell him that the..

Frank Field: Sorry, the phone line's breaking up.

Me: (Repeats question) Can you hear me now?

Frank Field: No it's breaking up. I can't hear you properly.

(George Davies in the background: "Tell her I'll call her back")

Frank Field: George will call you back.

Me: Ok, that's great, thanks. Bye Frank.

Surreal.
