X Factor hits Wirral

By Carrie Catterall on Oct 27, 09 11:13 AM

As Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Jedward and Stacey Soloman dominate the headlines, my thoughts go back to a Wirral News X Factor special.

If you don't fancy auditioning on television to become the next big thing, but still want to have a sing and get your own cd made in a recording studio, then Rob and Allan Fennah have got the answer.

The Wirral songwriting and production duo, writers of Twopence to Cross the Mersey, devised "Song Gift UK" for anyone who wants to record their own song.

For £80, budding singers will get two hours behind the microphone at Cammell Lairds Waterfront Park, Birkenhead, and receive their own CD or spend three hours in the studio and get two songs recorded.

I went along last year and recorded Black Velvet. It was a really good experience and made me feel like a professional singer for a couple of hours.

I then got my own cd with my picture attached and can keep my own record forever - cool.

Rob said: "People know we are professional so they can trust they are going to get a real recording experience - it also gives us an opportunity to hear what talent is out there for our future projects."
