Not in my Neighbourhood Week drugs success in Wirral
POLICE have seized £300,000 worth of drugs during a week-long campaign against crime and drugs in Wirral.

As part of this years 'Not in My Neighbourhood Week' Merseyside Police and it's partner agencies in Wirral conducted an operation targeting those people committing crimes such as burglary, theft, and those responsible for drug dealing.
The aim of the operation was to catch those committing crime along with seizing seize assets under the Proceeds of Crime Act, and further more by liasing with Wirral DAAT to provide an effective referral into the Drug Intervention Programme and treatment services.
The information received from the community enabled criminals to be targeted effectively this is a great example, the level of information received from the community was a great example of how residents now want to take a stand and say 'Not in My Neighbourhood!.'
Not in My Neighbourhood Week ran from Monday 2nd November to Friday 6th November 2009 and aims to promote what is being done in neighbourhoods to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and encourages the police, public services and communities to work together to keep our streets safe.
During the week long operation police in Wirral executed 55 search warrants with 45 arrests for various offences including illegal drug supply, drug possession, burglary, theft and money laundering.
Drugs with a street value of around £300,000 were recovered and £6000 in cash was also seized.
Wirral's Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Jon Ward said: "The results we have seen in this week long operation as part of Not in My Neighbourhood Week have been outstanding.
"This has been a great example of how communities can pull together to take a stand against the small minority of people who effect the lives of the majority through criminal behaviour. My officers and staff along with our partner agencies are committed to ensuring that neighbourhoods in Wirral remain great places to live.
"This operation is not in isolation but is simply building and publicising the work that goes on 24 hours a day, 365 days a week."
