Wirral Egg Run
The Egg Run takes place this Sunday, March 28, starting in New Brighton.
The charity event raises lots for local children's charities and has become a key fixture on Wirral's calendar.
Below is the council press release with details of road closures and the route the bikes - hopefully thousands upon thousands of them - will take.
WIRRAL EGG RUN EVENT 2010
NEW BRIGHTON - CLATTERBRIDGE HOSPITAL (WESTBOUND)
In order to enable the annual Wirral Egg Run 2010 to take place it will be necessary to implement the following temporary road closures. The route is outlined below:
START OF ROUTE
Date of closure:- From 7:00am until 14:00pm Sunday 28th March 2010
Extent of closure:-
1. Kings Parade, New Brighton (West bound carriageway only) between Harrison Drive and Coastal Drive.
2. Coastal Drive for its entire length.
3. Sandcliffe Road, New Brighton from its junction with Coastal Drive to its junction with Smugglers Way.
Alternative route due to promenade closure:-
Portland Street/Victoria Road, Warren Drive, Grove Road and Harrison Drive.
ROUTE
Delays will be expected along the route as shown in the schedule below due to Police and Marshal attendance from 11:00am until 14:00pm:

Pasture Road, Moreton
Hoylake Road, Moreton
Birkenhead Road, Hoylake/Meols
Market Street, Hoylake

Hilbre View, West Kirby
Column Road, West Kirby/Caldy
Telegraph Road, Caldy/Heswall
Chester Road, Heswall
Chester High Road, Neston
Parkgate Lane, Neston
Neston Road, Thornton Hough
Thornton Common Road, Thornton Hough
Clatterbridge Road, Spital
Mount Road, Spital
END OF ROUTE is - Clatterbridge Hospital, Clatterbridge.
1. Consultation has been carried out with Merseyside Police and the event organisers.
2. Advanced information boards have been erected at key points along the route to make motorists aware of the event.
3. The event organisers have contacted residents and businesses who are affected by the closures and have also erected information signs along the route.
4. Details of the event will be displayed on Wirral Council's and Liverpool City Council's ELECTRONIC VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGNS. This will give advanced warning to motorists and give them the opportunity to use an alternative route if they wish to do so.
5. Police and Event Marshals will be located along the route to ensure the event takes place safely.
6. Wirral Council staff and Merseyside Police will be providing assistance on the day of the event by using Wirral's Urban Traffic Control system and CCTV cameras to monitor and control delays.
